UAE financial planning FAQs
The tax structure in Dubai is a significant advantage for expatriates. There is no personal income tax, meaning salaries, pensions, capital gains, and income from other assets are tax-free. Instead, the government raises funds through Value-Added Tax (VAT), which is levied at 5% on most goods and services, with higher rates on products like carbonated drinks and tobacco.
Choosing the right financial adviser in Dubai is crucial for securing your financial future. Here are key considerations:
- Qualifications, experience, and licensing: Ensure the financial adviser is licensed to provide professional advice in Dubai and has the necessary qualifications and experience. Verify their credentials and regulatory approval.
- Reputation: Check online reviews and testimonials to ensure the adviser and company are reputable. Websites like Trustpilot can provide valuable insights into their professional standing.
- Clear fee structure: Understand how the financial adviser charges for their services. They may charge flat fees or commissions based on the assets managed. Transparency in their fee structure is essential to avoid hidden costs. Make sure you ask any financial adviser to explain how the fees work and what the cost and value, of advice means for you.
- Understanding your needs: A good financial adviser will take the time to understand your unique financial goals and needs. They will ask relevant questions to tailor their advice, whether you require general financial planning or bespoke wealth management strategies for high-net-worth individuals.
The value of an investment with St. James’s Place will be directly linked to the performance of the funds selected and may fall as well as rise. You may get back less than the amount invested.
The levels and bases of taxation and reliefs from taxation can change at any time. The value of any tax relief depends on individual circumstances. You are advised to seek independent tax advice from suitably qualified professionals before making any decision as to the tax implications of any investment.
